My numerical methods class project - a simulation of a motorcycle helmet impacting a rigid surface at 10 meters/sec. The video shows the maximum in-plane principal strains. And despite the heading, it's not actually my first try. There are 3 layers to the helmet - the shell (ABS), the liner (EPS), and the "skull." The model will be improved, but I was very pleased with my results so far. Assumptions: too many to count =)
